Pros

The only good part of working at SharkNinja were the people who hadn't drank the "Kool-Aid", as we called it.

Cons

I waited a while to write this review, to ensure that I had enough distance from the horror that is SharkNinja to have a clear perspective. That time has come and I still feel the same, so here goes. Never in my life have I worked in a more mismanaged and emotionally abusive environment than SharkNinja. You are considered late if you arrive past 8am, and lazy if you leave before 6pm. You are expected to be at management's beck and call at all times, just as you are expected to respond to emails late at night and on the weekends. You are constantly made to feel stupid and inadequate. And, as an added bonus, employees are often sent to China for weeks at a time with very little notice, including new mothers. The propensity to scapegoat and throw others under the bus at SharkNinja is driven from the top down, both between and within teams. Instead of working together to create a great product, each team is as quick to point fingers as they are to take credit. The President and CEO, or "the Marks" as everyone refers to them, are wont to facilitate this behavior, as every glitch, no matter how minor, has to be someone's fault. Favoritism and nepotism run hand in hand at SharkNinja. In order to succeed, you have to be callously ruthless, work 24/7, or be related to the Mark's in some way. Should you fulfill those requirements, you don't have to be qualified for or capable of performing in your role. Additional ways to get ahead at SharkNinja are to eschew time with your family and friends, ensure yours is the loudest voice in the room by talking over everyone, and relentlessly sucking up to management. The people who advance to managerial roles by exhibiting this behavior expect the same from their teams, thus ensuring that everyone is as obnoxious and miserable as they are. Org structures change monthly, and promotions and raises are handed out arbitrarily. Now, for possibly the most laughable part of the company: HR. Managers who have been reported to HR don't face consequences, and are instead enrolled in fruitless managerial training sessions. Spoiler alert: at SharkNinja, they don't work. Sexual harassment is also acceptable, as evidenced by a senior male employee who has yet to be penalized, despite numerous complaints from female employees to HR and management. Working at SharkNinja is not worth the money they throw at you; the company pays well for a reason. SharkNinja offers a sizable referral bonus, so be wary of acquaintances or former colleagues who try to recruit you as well. I truly would not wish that place on anyone.

Pros

Free breakfast Fridays, subsidized vending machines, and you're given a lot of responsibility. Also, free products.

Cons

You'll be in pointless/redundant meetings all day arguing about the best way to arrange the slide deck for weekly exec reviews. Literally you will have the same meeting >4 times before "primetime" with the Marks. You'll meet as a team to discuss your slides, then a director will walk in and ask to see it all from the beginning, then you'll make adjustments as a team, then you'll meet with the VPs to go through the deck, then you'll make changes, then you'll discuss it as a team, then you'll meet with the directors, and then you'll meet with the Marks and likely won't even get to your slides. Your boss and your boss's boss are just trying to look good in front of the Marks. It's ridiculous. My boss has sat down with me reformatting my slides and changing all of my words. Everyone is held to one narrow standard of being rude and confrontational. If you're not, they will force you to be or let you go. Every meeting is filled with a constant battle between marketing, quality, and engineering. It's not collaborative, but rather everyone is trying to get their way for sake of pride and to prove they're right. People will constantly be trash talking behind others' backs. Countless times I've heard my teammates talk about how stupid someone is or how much they hate someone else. There's an issue with people not really listening and trying to push their own agendas. I've made suggestions to the team and been yelled or laughed at because they thought it was dumb. That's no way to foster a creative environment. That same idea that I was yelled at for? One of the Marks brought it up in a meeting and all of a sudden everyone was on board and changing plans to agree with him. No appreciation for the work you or others put in. As you make your way down your endless to-do list you won't get a "thanks" or anything from your boss, but rather a "why didn't you do everything else?" Remember what I said about the endless meetings? Well the only way you can actually do your work is by staying late or working at home at night and on the weekends. Love the mission of positively impacting people's lives every day in every home around the world, but when it comes by negatively impacting SharkNinja employees' lives every day it doesn't seem worth it.

Pros

There are some nice people but most don’t last very long

Cons

Two people make every decision. The CEO micromanages everything. While you may have been respected and considered talented in your previous roles here you will be shocked by how badly you are treated. Toxic masculinity at its finest and while so many people have spoken to HR nothing has been done about it.employee turnover is so bad that HR will not tell you what it is. You know it’s bad when HR tells you off the record that they agree it’s bad-and they have tried to change it, but when the company culture is negative and toxic, fueled by the one person ultimately in charge, everyone is powerless. Do not think you can change it, you cannot. There is zero work life balance. You will redo your work 5-10 times because the ceo changed his mind, not because it makes sense or is the right way to do things. If you had anxiety before it will hit levels you never knew. People talk openly about feeling physically ill before having to go into executive meetings as you hope you are not the chosen one that day to get screamed at. This is not a place to learn or grow your career. The worst part is that this is not a secret. The handful of employees who have been there for more than a year tell you openly they just learned to “deal with it”. I wish I would have listened to the warnings.
