Pros

Good opportunity for someone entering insurance field to gain a book of business with no investment and good products to grow it. Great support from district manager in my region.

Cons

Upper level management cares only about production and little else. Beware of HR department if you ever come need to deal with them or come across them. They are not your friend. Technology is way behind that of other companies in the field. If you are coming from another comapny offering investment or financial products, tou are out of luck. There are only life and fixed annuity product offerings and right now all fixed annuities have been pulled b/c of low interest rate environment. All you need to do to be considered successful is sell lots of life insurance. You can be largest p&c producer in the country but if you are behind on life it makes no difference. Toe the company line and you are golden.

Pros

This is a company that will keep you as long as you want to stay. It is very conservative. Business Casual Dress Code

Cons

It is a very conservative company, which can be frustrating. Not the most advanced use of technology. They do not always promote from within

Pros

Excellent support structure from District and Regional Managers. Very competitive rates. Conservative underwriting helps keep good loss ratios. Great opportunity to make big bonuses. You run your own agency and control your own success. You can qualify for trips and conferences every year, sometimes in Hawaii, NYC, Florida, etc.

Cons

Must issue a minimum of 5 life policies a quarter or you go on probation, then if you don't again the next quarter you're fired. You get commission on new business, but no commission on renewals until after you're contracted and no longer salary.
