Pros

The people are generally very friendly to work with. There is A LOT of work, so the day goes by really fast.

Cons

There is a ton of office politics going on. Management tends to play favorites with promotions and advancement. I work full time hours, but have prn status so get no benefits and there are lots of people in my position. ....there are some people who pull more than their weight because others spend most of thoer day talking and not working....it is

Thank you for speaking out about your concerns. It is helpful to management to hear from employees about their experiences so that we can continue to improve. We have implemented a training curriculum that is aimed at helping managers recognize the impacts of their actions and decisions on the team.

Pros

Compassionate and hard working staff, excellent facility for brain/spinal cord injury rehab, great benefits, great teamwork

Cons

We are not being heard when suggestions are made. The turnover in the last two years should raise a red flag. They pick and choose who they listen to and take advice from. The loyal staff that have remained are taken for granted in all areas of the hospital. A large majority of staff are currently looking for other jobs. I'm not sure what changed two years ago but Shepherd has gone downhill in regards to their staff. Happy staff=happy customers. We work hard and more often than not the we will go above and beyond. We put ourselves in their shoes.

From Tammy King, Chief Nurse Executive: We are extremely proud of our hard working, dedicated, and caring staff. Without the kind of staff we have in place, Shepherd Center would not be able to provide the world class care for which we are so well known. We have encounted a lot of change over the last two years from upgrades to our electronic records system to complying with increased scrutiny and cost constraints all health care organizations are experiencing. We value all of our staff and make efforts to round with them on a regular basis. Some changes are made immediately as a result of feedback and other requests with greater impacts for other staff and patient care are considered more carefully. We encourage our employees to let us know what they need to help make them successful. We will do our best to provide all the resources and smooth processes needed for success.
