Pros

Great to gain experience with a large, established sales company, or in my case, open my eyes to what has become the norm for a career in retail.

Cons

Stores are ALWAYS understaffed - district managers seem to focus on pinching pennies at the expensive of the employees. This creates an atmosphere of employees feeling far from refreshed and energetic. Managers are expected to work 48 hours a week and assistants 44/week. Hard to have a life outside because of the hour requirements. Management at the district and higher levels are simply yes men, passing along ideas that are usually out of touch with individual store operation and customer base. Only closed 4 days a year, a real slap in the face to Holidays such as July 4, Labor Day, etc. They claim high level of value and culture, but it's a cover for typical corporate greed.

Pros

This company doesn't close stores Bonus structure is good if you are in a good store with potential to grow The company's stock is out the roof and growing!!!!! If managers could be managers and not every role because of no staffing, the job would be fantastic!!!!!

Cons

The work load is ridiculous given the size of staff Lead Generation of 30 calls minimum is hard to do some weeks and faked by most employees Only 4 days closed during the year and sundays are an absolute joke to be open for. The district manager's added rules are inconsistent across districts and at times break labor laws.

Pros

Sherwin-Williams is a great place to start your career, especially if you are just out of college. They provide in depth training and fantastic benefits, the pay is also pretty good.

Cons

The hours absolutely suck-there is no reason that Sherwin-Williams needs to be open on a Sunday, and no reason to be open until 6 on a Saturday. Upper management also thinks they can control everything, and that there always needs to be a manager in every store to babysit because they don't trust their other employees.
