Pros

When business is good bonus can be good for management . You really have an opportunity to build a relationship with your customer based on trust. Benefits are good. If your in with your DM you can move up fast. This is the place for minority and women, no joke.

Cons

TERRIBLE HOURS. Communist style of upper management.I HOPE YOU LIKE BEING CUSED LIKE A DOG (SERIOSLY) Lucky if your FULLTIME. Extremely limited staff .The company doesn't care about you . They have allowed people straight out of college to take positions that are not applicable for the growth of a team. They have over loaded employees with programs that have nothing to do with business and only to do with giving them a reason to can you if it gets slow. It has NOTHING to do with customer service now , its only , telemarking ( yes ! in store telemarketing) , check list of common sense things they want you to have done in a day ( sweep, mop , pick up trash in pk lot, etc) THE MONEY MAKERS ARE OUT OF TOUCH WITH STORES.

Pros

They have good benefits. If you need a paycheck you will get it on time.

Cons

You have to deal with dirt bags all day every day. They will complain about anything because they know the game. District management is full of douche bags who will throw loyal employees under the bus rather than do the right thing and stand up to bogus complaints from "painters". You know the type, an out of work meth head with maybe 3 teeth. Don't laugh all you managers know it's true. Besides this, stores are understaffed. Managers are supposed to work ungodly hours to make things work. If you want your livelihood dependent on dishonest contractors, "painters" etc, then sherwin williams is for you.

Pros

The benny's are good, they have a pension plan still. The culture among managers is nice. They only promote form within so you are not battling for a promotion with people you do not know, or people who have no experience in the company.

Cons

Skeleton Crew, Management (for the most part) does not care about its employees, Work load is always changing. If you do so much in a week management will find a way to put more on your shoulders. What? you can't handle more? Then you are gone! What's that? You can handle more? OK, good, that is your new "Norm"....until we pile on more stuff for you to do without helping you find good help, or paying them decently, The process starts all over again. Here is another Con for the Store Managers or Assistant Managers. Think of this. If you leave the company after 3 or 4 years of running a store, or you leave the company after 25 years of running a store you still only have very little experience in business. SW does not do a lot to prepare people to work other places. They teach you enough to be a drone for SW, but not enough to make you confident in your skills other places. The skills you learn at SW do not translate to much outside of SW. So here you are a young twenty or thirty something year old employee running a store. (Micro Managed from the top level) You have been in that position for 20+ years. How have you grown from your 5th or 6th year to your 20th year? Chances are you probably haven't. You probably just got comfortable doing a job you know how to do. Deal with the BS as it comes, and thank God you have a job.
