Pros

Can't think of any for the amount of time I have worked here

Cons

I had around 8 years of shoe sales experience before working for this company at a other more high end shoe store. Here I was taught how to properly size and help the customers find what they need. I was scheduled to open the store one morning with one other sales associate and a key holder (which sounds like something form the video game ZELDA). Both the other sales rep and Key holder did nothing to help any customers and pretty much just hanged around talking about inappropriate subject matter which most of the store could hear. Due to volume and amount of customers coming into the store I was able to give them personal one-on-one help. I worked with those customers so I rang up the sales under my name. In my 8 hour work day I had made $1600.00 in sales. Well the following day I came into work and was called over by our stores GM and he told me that he had received a phone call from from the District manager who had reviewed the following days sales report. He told me that the District Manager said that I had to many sales and that the only way I was able to do so was by taking or "STEALING" sales from the house. Excuse me but "THE HOUSE" didn't selling any of those shoes I did. Why would I give up a sale that I made or a customer that I helped and ring it up under a House Sale. So because I was able to have a good sales day, instead of being rewarded, my integrity was questioned. I find it hard to work my tail off for a company when in return I am Branded a "THIEF". I make min. wage at $7.25 an hour. They "SAY" you can make more an hour through commission but its about impossible by the way they have it rigged. And if by some chance you do have a good sales day. You are accused of being a thief.

Pros

The most beneficial part of this job is meeting new people. Helping people find what they are looking for and making them happy.

Cons

The compassion isn't the best. Health insurance provided is a joke. Sick time doesn't roll over and can't be cashed in. A very low cap on pay increases

Pros

Very few. Amazing manager and amazing co workers. Nice store to work in. Relatively easy job.

Cons

The pay is terrible. $9/hour for a key holder (which is basically an assistant manager type position) and soon minimum wage is going up to $8.10/hour so the sales associates are barely making less. Job duties are not given out well. The registers, credit card machines, and POS are WAY out of date and definitely need updated. We still have DIAL UP. I didn't even know that still existed. Despite the easiness of this job, there is way too much expected out of the key holders and way WAY too much heavy lifting. There are no real benefits or at least they say there are but then you hear nothing about them after that. I think I have sick pay? Who knows.... Also, the District Managers need to calm down a bit, they are always so rude and nasty for no reason. Lastly, there is just no positive reinforcement what so ever to do a good job. Oh wait, and there's no security systems in the stores so theft happens all of the time and the employees are blamed for it even though payroll can only be at so much so therefore there's like 2 people (maybe) running a huge store (Encore store) by themselves.
