Cons
It's not uncommon to work with someone (or simply share space), and have them turn around and bad mouth you to someone else or even worse, upper management. It doesn't matter how diplomatic you believe you're being. Some people will find a way to misconstrue your words and behavior. Those people have no qualms about ruining your reputation. Good luck finding out who's bad mouthing you. More often than not, they'll act completely unfazed. It's probably during this time (or shortly after) that they are texting or emailing people a distorted version of what actually happened. Perception is unfortunately reality and management will probably believe the tattletales. In the event that this happens be sure to request written copies of all reports. Depending on who all is interrogating you, It wouldn't be a bad idea to have multiple people follow up with the individual(s) making the reports. You want to ensure that it isn't in fact your supervisor who's purposefully misconstruing your reviews. Who knows, they might have an agenda against you.
