Pros

Engineers are good to work with and are helping. Flexibility to work from home. Work life balance. Advice to prospective applicants for software engineer positions: Please take it with a grain of salt if you are told that you can get promoted to next level quickly or you can grow into leadership positions.

Cons

In Software Department : - Engineers do not get promoted unless they are favorites. - But managers(all levels, even to VP level) get promoted in 1-3.5 years - Many Motorola managers got hired who are bringing Motorola Mobility culture to Shure. They care only about their own career growth. - Most of the engineers do not get to work on newer technologies. - Layoffs happened at least 2-3 times in the recent years.

Pros

People here are kind to each other. Really. Our CEO has an authentic, low-ego style that permeates our culture. The organization is deeply committed to IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and access) and this is a critical part of our business strategy. And we're a leader in our market so it's great to be part of a team who takes pride in creating extraordinary products and experiences.

Cons

Some traditional ways of thinking which fortunately continue to evolve quickly.

Pros

Everyone is very respectful. It’s a fairly stable company without a lot of turnover. Great people, great products, huge employee discount on Shure gear.

Cons

The software team is using SAFe, an agile framework that’s TERRIBLE. And we don’t implement it all that well (partially because SAFe practices often are in conflict with other SAFe practices). So you know, lots of meetings and all that
