It's perfect...for the right kind of person

Pros

Safe, great benefits, family-feel, fairly stress-free. This is the kind of place that if you just want to kick-back and coast your way to retirement is perfect for you.

Cons

Everything else. The only innovation that happens here is in the products. There is essentially no marketing team. You're seeing the young, creative people leaving left and right. Too many promotions from within that aren't deserved. Politics are HUGE here, it's all about who you pick to be on "your team" and this has led to people getting positions that they are not at all qualified for.

Pros

There's a coolness factor at Shure. Company makes great (not the greatest) products and is a leader in it's industry. Company culture is solid and positive

Cons

The IT division is an unfortunate disaster and an exception to an otherwise decent company. The top leader is a micromanager, and if your fresh perspective and ideas from successes and lessons learned elswhere don't align, then you're made to feel inferior and unwanted. Directors regularly yell at and humiliate employees in front of their peers. While I was there, it was honestly toxic. From what I could tell, other divisions are run better. Just beware if you're considering IT.

Pros

Stable company. Privately held. People at working level are generally nice

Cons

Pathetic leaders. From Manager and above, people are insecure bunch of folks who are very selfish, interested in taking all credits and assigning all blames below. They also lie in front of the CIO to save their face.
