Pros

Huge profits in spite of poor management and uncontrolled waste Amazing products

Cons

Lack of leadership, vision and accountability If one speaks up he/she can easily become a political refugee or dissident One can only promote and advance a career if he/she can carefully navigate the politically charged environment

Pros

While the salary and benefits are competitive, that’s where the positives end.

Cons

I echo the sentiments of others regarding the IT department at Shure—it’s an extremely negative and stressful place to work. My time there was deeply affected by a toxic environment and poor leadership. Leadership Issues: The CIO is one of the most insecure and socially awkward leaders I have encountered. Her unprofessional behavior, including micromanagement, poor communication skills, playing favorites, and giving the silent treatment, fosters a hostile work atmosphere. Most of the IT leadership team, including Directors, VPs, and the CIO, have been working together for over 15 years, creating an insular and unaccountable culture. They often sit on their bully pulpit, blaming everyone below them for any problems that occur. They refuse to take accountability, never looking at themselves as part of the problem. Despite their pompous displays of authority, including belittling and embarrassing their own direct reports in front of others, and a facade of caring and recognition, the leadership does not genuinely prioritize or value their employees. Their actions seem more about maintaining control and basking in the delusion of grandeur than creating a supportive environment. Work Culture: The IT team operates under constant stress and anxiety, as if they’re walking on eggshells around the CIO and other IT leadership. This culture leaves little room for constructive feedback or innovation. In addition, there have been two rounds of layoffs in the last two years, which have further lowered employee morale and created an atmosphere of insecurity. Expect night and weekend work to become the norm, yet you will still feel like you aren’t doing enough to please IT leadership. The pretenses of caring and recognition are just that—pretenses that mask a genuine disregard for employee well-being. A previous Glassdoor review said, "Never mind if you bring tried and true methods and best practices learned from past roles, these methods will be cut down along with your confidence and self esteem" and I couldn't have said it better myself. Personal Reflection: While I learned valuable lessons about what a work environment should not be, my experience at Shure was overwhelmingly negative. I cannot imagine a worse place to work, and I strongly urge potential employees to consider this before accepting a position within the Shure Information Technology department. Overall, the work environment in Shure’s IT department is detrimental to both professional growth and personal well-being. Be prepared for a regrettable experience if you decide to join. I am truly sorry for those who are still working in the Shure IT department.

Pros

Paid decently, but nothing great compared to market rates

Cons

Most of the Managers, Directors and above ,the "So called" Leaders in IT Department are a bunch of jokers ! CIO is also delusional lady surrounded by a bunch of sycophants who are outdated. All credits by the "workers" are sucked up by Managers, Directors. Any tiny mistake committed by workers is chastised badly and is escalated to highest levels. Very toxic environment!! Also, technologically they are very back dated with near zero vision. So you wont learn much other than sucking up to a bunch of idiots who are in Manager, Director, Senior Director levels. CIO is a micromanager, often going into useless details of which exact programs, reports, configurations are being done by whom. Rather, she should be focused on the vision, business benefits and the strategic road maps. These leader survive based on bonhomie they have had for years, often decades of working together in Shure. Hence they are all ganged up. If you are lucky, you become a part of the gang. Else it is going to be a nightmare.
