Pros

Workforce is passionate about audio which leads to very friendly vibe. You are given the respect and responsibilities of a full time associate (not just getting coffee) Lots of great actives that help you network with current and previous interns as well as other workmates. Opportunity for full time employment if you are done with school

Cons

Interns may just be given any task that needs to be done rather than a pre-determined project which could lead to doing very minute tasks

Pros

absolutely none in the way of moving up

Cons

lots, management has long gotten into the habit of working with fewer resources than necessary. Can one imagine what fantastic products this company could produce with appropriate resources. Management insists on micromanaging , it's the way they have done biz for many years. They will not share decision making responsibilities and the people actually making the decisions are absolutely ill equipped ( experience) to make those decisions.

Pros

Nice building, nice people, good products before they decided to ship all their manufacturing to China. Not environmentally cool to work for they are not worried about their Global Footprint. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk. This could have been a really great cool small company to work for they have about 1, 500 employees worldwide, mostly in the factories overseas. Main building houses about 400.

Cons

Department VP Leaders are very polarized, and don't work with one another's department. No job growth, no internal movement, its frowned upon to post for another position in another department. The benefits are weak to average, same with the pay unless you are a Director. They do things very old school here and don't utilize SAP correctly or any other operational function. The IT department is very weak with experience and over bloated as a department. Marketing and Operations are really behind in many areas. PR, Engineering and Finance are the only good departments to work in. Human Resources is the most bloated department next to IT, in other companies I have worked at they rank on the low end of a hierarchy scale of importance. Here at Shure they have much to much significance in decision making, which goes along with the theme that this company is still stuck in the 70s. Come her to work while you are looking for a better place, don't buy into the hype, they just make microphones. It's just manufacturing and there is nothing exciting about that.
