Pros

You get to work on some pretty amazing programs. Dream Chaser was the single most epic highlight of my career. My immediate team members were amazing and everyone communicated and supported each other well within the team.

Cons

Upper management has no idea what actually goes on at this company. Constant bombardment for metrics that are impossible to provide, constant demand to “turn the box green” without understanding of what that actually means. Extremely poor work/life balance with a constant promise it will get better, but no real evidence of that. Most recent round of layoffs was done the immediate following day after vehicle shipped out the door. The company laid off many folks that sacrificed their personal lives to ensure DC-101 shipped on time. No apparent knowledge from upper management about condition of vehicle at time of shipment, remaining work to be done, or appropriate understanding of risk going into the testing campaign. Just seems to be an overall total lack of knowledge throughput between the folks that actually build the products and upper management.

Pros

The people at the working level are well-intentioned and doing their best. Pay was alright and 401(k) matching is above industry-standard.

Cons

The work environment is completely toxic - if you're not one of the managers in the 'inner circle' you are basically on the wrong side of any issue. Feedback is not respected, dissenting opinions are squashed entirely, and management will throw their employees under the bus at practically every opportunity. Upper level management is quick to give pretty words and reluctant to make substantive change to improve working conditions. Extremely top-heavy organization, there are way too many managers and they all huddle together and don't actually support their employees. HR was not helpful whatsoever in resolving conflicts between management and lower level employees.

Pros

The actual people are awesome, if you are lucky enough to be on the right team. Pay was good at hiring, but has not kept up with cost of living. Benefits are decent, but there are better out there 401k match vests over 5 years, 3 weeks accrued PTO/year (which includes sick/granted) and increases every 5 years of employment.

Cons

Know that the 9/80 schedule is gone. Know also that 'flexible' to management means you get to vary your in/out time by 30 minutes around the "core hours," and nobody is working from home. Be prepared for tone-deaf senior managers sending passive-aggressive emails complaining that nobody is working on Saturdays shortly after laying off people who did. Be prepared to be spoken to in platitudes about "changing everything" when your career growth seems to hinge entirely on the success of one specific product - if you're lucky enough to be here when that happens.
