Pros

If you like being up all night and enjoy quiet, you'll like this job, things are generally pretty chill.

Cons

If you don't like confrontation DO NOT work here! It is necessary to tell residents to quiet down or leave a closed area, you must tell homeless to leave private property and escort them out if they sneak in.

Hi there! You're absolutely right that a Signal 88 officer needs to deal fairly and professionally with people from all walks of life — often late at night. We think it's a great way for a "people person" to make a real difference in the community. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences with us, and thanks for being part of the Signal 88 family!

Worst security company to work for

Pros

You don't have a boss breathing down your neck all the time

Cons

One supervisor and specific is totally disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude not only two employees but people he would come in contact with on the job whether it was provoked or not. They promised you a 40 hour week and you're lucky if you get 35. One week I was only scheduled for 12 hours. It's all apartment security and they're all in government housing areas so there is a high risk of being shot at by white trash literally on a daily basis.

Pros

Computer system works fairly well Initial manager was good Freedom to choose work site (when available) Radio system works really well Franchised company Promised training in take-downs, firearms, OC, handcuffs, etc.

Cons

"Upper management" (company of <20 has 5 administrative staff), administrative staff consists of individuals who do not posses any management skill. Several administrative staff members "are ex law enforcement", meaning that they served as a detention center employee in one capacity or another. Management struggles with basic communication Administrative employees lack the required experience -- No HR experience at all, etc. Unlicensed security guards working in a licensed capacity Unlicensed armed security guards working in an armed capacity Absolutely horrible relationship with law enforcement (mainly due to S88 guards placing people under arrest when they have no authority, or battery, etc.) Was never given any formal training, was given OC and handcuffs without any knowledge of how they work or how to properly use them. Very stressful - often on your own in lethal situations (nearest backup is 3+ minutes away).
