Pros

Job security - They are always hiring in this position so if you are okay with working a 9 to 5 job that has set responsibilities, this is for you. Remote work opportunity - It's a Regional role so you might be working for a station that's several hours away. Decent pay - Aligns with other companies' entry-level compensation. Bonus opportunities - If your station does well, you have the chance to receive quarterly bonuses.

Cons

Not very fulfilling - You will be chained to your desk and on the computer all day. As orders come in, they automatically print and you need to sort through and prioritize them. This gets monotonous very quickly if you thrive in creative settings. AI could do this job - At this point in time, a robot should be inputting these orders. It gets tedious to do the same task over and over, and my eyesight actually got worse from staring at order lines for hours. Outdated platforms - The system that is used to communicate with the advertisers is old and clunky. OSI is fine but the two systems don't like to talk to each other and they have separate VPNs which also, don't like to work together. Conflicting instructions from managers - You will be told to prioritize your work based on bigger, more expensive orders. You have to get them in quickly but also make sure you aren't making mistakes. Managers actually say, "we know it's contradictory but it's just part of the job." Fear mongering - The managers and trainers will come after you if it looks like you didn't get "enough" orders in because it looks bad for them. Don't be fooled, this is not an "assistant" job - You will be doing a job that should be split by at least 2 people, depending on your stations. Some have more than others yet the job is only done by one person. The turnover rate speaks for itself - high-stress job for no reason, and not ideal for anyone who's fresh out of college and is looking to start a career in journalism. No upward mobility, and not a lot of interaction with other departments.
