Current Flight Attendant for Skywest Airlines
Pros
You get to fly all over; there's flexibility when it comes to dropping or trading trips; you're not on reserve as long here as you would be at mainline; you get to fly with a lot of the same crew sometimes; we get flight benefits not just one airline but 4 different airlines.
Cons
First two years will be the hardest but if you can hang in there after that it'll get easier. It takes some adjusting to having a different kind of schedule every week and getting used to different time zones and being on reserve (on call). The first year, they don't allow any calling in because you are on a probationary period. Also there's 4 different airlines we fly for. Depending where you will be based, you might be dedicated to one to three of them. So there's a lot of stuff you have to know especially the 4 different aircrafts that we fly. But SkyWest Airlines is definitely a good stepping stone in getting into the airline industry and gaining the experience.
