Pros

Lots of autonomy, very hands off, trusting organization. Leadership is always open to ideas to improve the business or experience at Slalom. Great place to shine, and easy to get to know your whole office. Very smart consultants who want to work hard, please clients, and enjoy themselves all the while. Company seems to evolve into something greater every year.

Cons

Sometimes feels that leadership has covert operations going on all of the time, but you have faith and trust in that they are working for the benefit of you and the company. Sometimes a little too hands off, and when someone does approach you about something meaningful, it seems like a distraction. Paid practice leads are needed in each office. Folks sometimes are allowed to work in ways that are profitable to Slalom but not profitable to the consultant who is doing above and beyond what is required of them. You only get a day of vacation after billing slightly over a month's time, so you have to consider taking non paid time off days if you want to save your PTO for a nice vacation. Only getting paid half your salary if you are unstaffed stinks, so I try all I can to remain staffed. It seems almost impossible to refer someone and have them be hired. I think your referral must walk on water as well as the moon to be hired by Slalom.

Pros

Slalom empowers me in three significant ways: 1) Client Delivery - to deliver great work for my clients by focusing me on the client needs, supporting me in whatever I need to get the job done, and not constraining me to follow or impart any methodology or tool set regardless if the client wants or needs it. 2) Career Growth - I get to design my own career path and Slalom is there to support me as much as I need. 3) Community - the people I work with inspire me and make me want to be a better consultant. Not sure what else I could expect or want from a company.

Cons

Consultant tend to look hard at ways to improve almost everything, so we're a picky bunch. I would love to see better communication about and access to all the services, opportunities, and assets Slalom has to offer. I think some employees are unaware of the depth and breadth of what's available to them.

Pros

Lengthy tenure of many employees creates a positive company culture Strong retention of consultants and leadership team Company continues with positive growth through challenging economic times Impressive commitment to consultants including training and specialty tracks in an attempt to aid each individual in accomplishing their career goals High profile project opportunities with a variety of clients and industries Cutting edge technology team projects Hands on leadership team Consultants regularly move into leadership positions to satisfy the demand and support company growth

Cons

Seattle office space is getting a little tight because of expansion, but that does not affect most consultants who are working on-site
