Pros

I had 2 years of learning a lot about web writing and editing, and worked with some great young minds. Hours were flexible, another plus.

Cons

The owner uses his temper as a scare-tactic, and forced several team-player employees against each other through competition and actual meetings where he would ask us to call each other out. He placed people in high command who often didn't understand the flow of work, and who ultimately did no good for the company or it's employees. Very very poor upper management.

I was able to work for a Silicon Valley company from my home in Tulsa, OK. I learned a ton of, and about, open source software.

Cons

As a public company, SourceForge had to put long-term open-source strategy on the back burner to satisfy quarterly financial objectives

The office is really nice. Super modern decor.

Cons

Horrible company to work for! The pay is terrible, but the worst part of the job is dealing with the insane owner. He would regularly verbally attack employees in front of everyone, and almost always it was because of a decision he made. He would even laugh sometimes when he realized someone was embarrassed. He truly enjoys putting fear in his employees. Jobs were threatened on a daily basis. The turnover rate is extremely high for a reason! It's rare to find an employee that's worked there longer than a year. This is by far the worst working environment I've ever been involved in, and most of that is due to the owner who directly micromanages every employee in the company. If you have any good sense you would stay far far away from this company. You've been warned.
