Pros

Good benefits -401k -Transportation reimbursement -Unlimited PTO -Medical, Dental and Vision

Cons

In my experience Smarsh is like many other companies. It appeared that they preferred to promote people based on their networking skills rather than hard work. They promoted two employees into positions that they did not seem qualified for. When questioned about it in an All Hands Meeting they admitted they did not go about it the right way but then quickly moved on to the next question. Another issue was their attempts to improve the work culture. They sent out surveys twice a year and encouraged high participation rates yet it seemed like they did very little with the feedback. These are just a few examples that people noticed while employed there. Also it seems like there has been a pretty high turnover in the last year or so. There are plenty of other tech companies in Portland that are probably better options.

Thank you for your feedback. However, it is very disappointing that you appeared to have such a negative experience. As you know, the past year posed significant challenges as we merged two companies together and unfortunately during this time some good people left the company. During the fast-paced integration of two separate companies and working environments, identifying new organizational structures presented an exciting opportunity for people to expand their careers. These promotional opportunities are something we are very proud of as a leadership team, and is core to our culture of continous learning. Recently we have created a policy for posting all our positions for all employee visibility, as creating a fair opportunity for growth is important. We believe success is working with employees who often are promoted because they are clear about seeking growth opportunities. In terms of our workplace survey, great feedback! We have committed to sharing survey results and actions at our All Staff meetings, in addition managers will now be receiving individual department reports that will be shared with their team so we can drive workplace improvements throughout our organization at all levels. Again, thank you for the feedback, this really helped us drive improvement. Brian Cramer - Chief Executive Officer

Thanks for the feedback, great to hear your positive experience. The dynamic nature of our culture is really important to us, and we work with each other is just as important, and is embedded in our cultural values. The diversity of our employee base is an important topic as we continue to grow and add more people. We certainly recognize this is not an easy needle to move, and have formed an Inclusion Committee this year that will help shape and execute our diversity and inclusion initiatives. We are committed to becoming a more diverse organization, but we believe the first place to start is to create an inclusive environment, which is where we are focused right now. We look forward to being able to report back on our initiatives and continue to improve our culture and environment. Suzanne Rudnitzki - Chief People Officer
