Growing company with a great culture

Pros

- Pay and benefits are very competitive - Company is very transparent - monthly all-staff meetings where leadership is very open about how the company is doing and plans for the future - Company is, for me at least, the perfect size: big enough that you don't worry about them making payroll or providing benefits, but small enough that you can do a lot of different things and really make a difference - Great culture! Friendly, supportive, and willing to listen to suggestions.

Cons

- Like many companies of their size, they sometimes suffer from a lack of maturity in terms of processes and standards. I do think they are aware of this and even in the short time I've been here, progress has been made. - There has not been much emphasis on learning/development - People are VERY busy - I think burnout is a real risk. Again, I do think the company's aware of this.

We 100% agree with your review title! As a growing company, we place a high importance on continuous improvement in our processes and standards so we can scale up effectively. Thank you for highlighting that we are willing to listen to suggestions – a key element of effective improvement is using feedback to inform decisions. Learning and development has been an important area of focus for Smarsh, and we continue to put significant emphasis in this area. A few L and D initiatives include holding topical training sessions every week, having over 1,500 on-demand training courses in our learning management system, our scholarship program for individual training and our mentorship program. Of course, as you mentioned, people are very busy and it can be challenging to create time to participate in L and D programs – but, we appreciate your feedback and welcome any ideas you have towards L and D and ways to improve work-life balance.

Pros

- Transparent culture, especially around COVID response - Increased commitment and ownership among and across teams - Culture of feedback is evolving, we're getting better

Cons

- Some teams challenging to collaborate with, often point to "it's not a goal for me, so I can't help you" - Shifting priorities make it challenging to get big stuff done over time as planned - Some key non-exec personnel under-performing, not seeming to improve over time

Thanks! We are growing fast and we need more talented people to join our team. We continue to add more learning and development opportunities, inclusive of a new Learning Management System with over 700 accessible programs for our employees. We are proud to have recently formed an Inclusion Committee, and are looking forward to the future impact of this program!
