Pros

The people who work here are fantastic, for the most part. You do get perks, like health insurance for yourself is paid for completely by the company, bagels or donuts every Friday, unlimited coffee, soda, snacks (only cereal & goldfish), fresh fruit delivered every Monday. Expenses are paid quickly, no waiting months and months for expense checks, provided that you do the work and submit your reports on time. You have an awesome work/life balance here.

Cons

Executives - hilariously out of touch. Create lofty goals that aren't just lofty, but completely unattainable. Engineering - product is super buggy. That's all people ever talk about. When will we fix a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, and so on and so forth until you finally think that one thing is fixed, before realizing they didn't fix it at all, and instead created a complex work-around solution to the problem that doesn't solve anything, really. Sales - be prepared for a revolving door of sales people. A common phrase heard around here: "new sales guy.... should I bother to learn his name?" Also, rampant sexism in the sales team. Client services - these people by far work the hardest, get paid the least, and have to deal with the most criticism and anger from both management, executives, AND clients. Give everyone in client services a blanket and a cookie, they need a break. Pay - which brings me down to this. Pay. Everyone here is underpaid, and it shows. Engineering doesn't work as hard as they typically do in other workplaces, as they're significantly underpaid (and they know it!). And then because engineers don't work as hard, the product suffers. And then when the product suffers, Sales and Client Services suffers because they're directly dealing with clients who have paid a significant amount of money for this product that is buggy/broken. And then after a while, client services and sales both get disillusioned with the company, between the buggy product, and the low pay, and that explains your high turnover rate. Also, don't expect to get promoted here. It won't happen.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate hearing both sides of your experience. We're glad that you enjoyed the amazing people on our team and some of the many benefits and perks we offer. We sincerely apologize that your time here did not meet your expectations and we are genuinely disappointed that it fell short of our goal of creating a well-balanced, challenging, exciting and rewarding experience for you. We are committed to continually making SmartZip an exceptional place to work, so your comment about sexism in the workforce is alarming and surprising to us. We strongly recommend you reach out to Human Resources as we take these concerns seriously. While we have had some attrition, there are a lot of new faces around the company due to our growth. We are scaling our sales team this year as we expand our current product line and add new product lines. We presented in our all-hands last month that 30 employees have been promoted since Q416. We wish you would have approached your manager or Human Resources with your concerns prior to leaving as our doors are always open. None the less, we appreciate your feedback and wish you the very best.

Pros

The people here are great, this is the biggest pro for this company. Company provides an environment that allows you to be comfortable. Startup mentality, relatively small company, you can be a part of many projects and be very hands on. Benefits are decent.

Cons

Very low pay. As mentioned above, benefits are decent but wish there was some kind of company contribution to the 401k. Not many opportunities for growth -- very stagnant

Pros

What can I say? Do not go in to this job as an account manager or account executive thinking you'll work your way up to management. You won't. But don't mistake that as a bad thing. This is a startup, so there are going to be bumps in the road. Let your voice be heard, because as many people as have complained for lack of job growth, there are also the same amount of people who have worked their way from an entry level account management position to something more. So don't sit on the sidelines and complain. You see a fire, run towards it and do you best to put it out. I started here as just that, an account manager. Luckily for me I had an amazing direct manager who believed in me and had my back regardless of the amount of mistakes I've made. And trust me, I've made a lot. But she's amazing, and luckily for the company, she's still there. So go in with an open mind and understand this job can make you money (on the sales side) or be an amazing opportunity to build experience and recognition in account management. Keep your ears open and take in as much information as possible. This job will be worth your time.

Cons

As mentioned above, there is no "fast track" to management. So get your mind right before you start. The starting pay isn't great. Again, it's a start up. So either quit and complain somewhere else or understand why you're there. Be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
