Pros

Ideate, Innovate, Execute ---> Mark Mader's credo is alive and well here at Smartsheet. If you want to make an impact with your career; If you want to work with people with high integrity, energy and teamwork; If you want to help people get work done more efficiently and make better use of their intellect and energy - then look no further - Smartsheet is the place to be... and this is not BS. This is not ghost written nor is it coming from the corporate HR department (no offense intended).

Cons

Not necessarily a con but having perseverance and grit - being driven - really helps in terms of success. There is so much opportunity - but you should have these attributes to fully actualize your contributions here.

Pros

1. Culture: Lots of people with kids/families work here. I personally don't have any, but I like that there is a humane feel to this place because people have a life outside of coding. 2. Collaboration. Everyone is willing to help with everything. 3. Interview process for me personally was also very humane. I still had to do the all-day loops and such, but people were relaxed, and didn't throw a bunch of acronyms at me that you can only know if you worked there. 3. Interesting problems, so much Java. To me, that's a huge plus. 4. "Unlimited" sick days. I didn't test this to see if it's really unlimited. 5. Because people are mostly dope, you can make friends if that's your thing. 6. Principal engineer on my team totally doesn't have to, but always takes an extra effort to mentor me. It makes me wanna work here forever !

Cons

Free bagels on Fridays. I don't like bagels. HORRIBLE Bellevue commute, but that's not the company's fault. While the 550 is slowly crawling out of Bellevue, gives you lots of time to question your life choices, like working in Bellevue and living in Seattle. So you wanna pack it in and quit, but where else would you find a team where you actually like to see everyone every day?!

Pros

Young growing company, everyone is super friendly and willing to step up and help out. Product is great and the customers are great to work with.

Cons

Top priority is always generating more revenue, which comes at the expense of employees' work life balance. 50+ hour work week is standard. There are a lot of perks for sales but not much for professional services, its very much a "work hard, work harder" culture. Internal processes are lacking and there are too many layers of management to make a difference.

Your review touches on a topic that has been top of mind for me and my team -- work-life balance -- and I appreciate the chance to share more. To me, the term work-life balance implies a rigidity between work and life. Given the nature of today’s work, what we’re looking to foster at Smartsheet is greater flexibility, where individuals are empowered to meet their obligations in ways that work best for them (as appropriate, given specific roles, responsibilities, and obligations). You may have seen that we recently received a Comparably Award for work-life balance based on feedback from our employees. While this is promising, I know we are still evolving in this area, and we’ll continue to respond to our team and our business needs. Specifically, my team is working to achieve greater consistency across teams (again, as appropriate -- certain roles inherently allow for more or less flexibility). As you mentioned, we are a growing company, which comes with opportunities as well as challenges. I encourage you to embrace change, and know that my door is always open if you would like to share your experiences or ideas. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. - Kara Hamilton, Chief People & Culture Officer
