      S&N - could be great

      Pros

      Medical device industry is still strong and generally growing. S&N is a #4 player in orthopedics. Its known as the innovator. It's lean, but pretty stable. Generally good pay for medical devices but "parity" has been new the new term for socialist pay changes.

      Cons

      It's culture is very short term focused. Most upper management doesn't even know the industry...includes the board. Doesn't have a lot of women and non-whites in mid-to top tier leadership positions. Leadership really wants "yes" men rather than people that challenge them.

      Pros

      Good pay and benefits there.

      Cons

      Culture where people in different departments don't agree on priorities and it takes forever to get things done. This happened over many years as the company has grown in leaps and bounds. Andover staff are condescending and arrogant - because they have been there far too long.

      Pros

      There are some great people that I have had the opportunity to work with at Smith-Nephew.

      Cons

      Management is lacking in communication skills and interaction with all employees. There is no room for advancement within the company, jobs are created out of the blue because of relationships between past management and employees.
