Pros

50% off tools from Snap On.

Cons

No support, no marketing and no love from the Franchise dealers . They tell you to sell on the Snap On name but their products are not branded Snap On. If the product's were branded "Snap On", it would be a slam dunk as technicians trust Snap On products. The reason it's not branded "Snap On" is so the company does not have to pay the Franchise dealers their normal commission. By branding John Bean, Blackhawk, etc. it's a loop hole for the company to get out of paying the dealers their agreed margins for "Snap On" products that are outlined in their Franchise contract. Franchise dealers don't support you because the commission that they receive is so little. They have to see the customer every week and it's not worth it to them to field all of the issues from the equipment side. Example, if a customer has an issue with an aligner and they call equipment for service, the support is lacking and the issues don't get resolved promptly. This could be the time that it takes to have a technician respond or having them get back to the customer in a timely manner to fix the issue or a combination of the above. While the aligner is down and the customer is receiving no updates as to when it will be fixed and the Franchise dealer has to hear about this from the customer. $500 commission is not worth it to the dealer to deal with the lack of support from equipment and lose credibility from their customers.

Old School Company

Pros

As an engineer in corporate, it is very true that this company takes quality very, very seriously. It was nice to work for someone that, while cost does matter, you can spend more than other companies to be sure you are the best. The people in the engineering group are great, mostly all car-people to some level, everyone gets along reasonably. The entry pay is acceptable. Right on national average. Work-life balance in the engineering group is good. There are times where you have to put long days in, but they are fairly rare.

Cons

The benefit structure of Snap-on is old school. The vacation accrual is 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks at 5 years, then accrual every 3-5 years from there. not terrible, but very slow. There is no new parent leave, you take unpaid time off, ladies can file short term disability. Health insurance is OK, no HSA option, EPO plan is very expensive. The culture is OK, but generally you are promoted on attrition. While the entry pay is agreeable, they give raises like any other corporation.

Pros

10 paid holidays, travel opportunities if you're into that.

Cons

The pay is low, the hours are long, the culture is horrible and communicating between department feels more like a competition and a game of "got ya" instead of one united company. Huge bro culture and it makes for an extremely uncomfortable and toxic workplace for women. Also majority of older people who have been there for years and years and who do not adapt to the times. Do not recommend. Nepotism runs rampant and so many people are unprofessional but face 0 consequences. Do not develop skills at all because the company is not technically advanced. Overall disappointing.
