My "Personal" Nightmare

Pros

Opportunity to work 50-60 hours weekly (with little to zero appreciation). Some bosses will make it easier than others to take paternity leave. If you get a good manager then overall SoFi is good for a job, at least for a year or two. You get to learn more about yourself and what you do not want in an employer.

Cons

I am writing this not out of spite or anger, just sharing my personal experience. It was stressful, it was a beat down every month, it was sad not being able to spend as much time as I should have with the little one in consequence to the extra hours and the disorganization when it came to distribution of work within the team. If you complain about doing too many hours, they will tell you to do less, but when the quality of the work drops because you don’t have those extra 10-20 hours to review or to get more detailed information they will raise hell and complain. They have zero respect for your personal time, and everything seems to always be in flames and burning so it requires your full attention even after work hours (Got worse every month, cannot imagine how much worse it will get now that they are going public). There were times I was receiving requests at 8PM. Management based on my experience is bad at almost every level. They are concerned with themselves only and if you bring up an issue and it gets addressed you can feel extremely lucky and you might as well sing HALLELUJA, and if you don’t like the culture or what’s going on they prefer you to leave then address the issue. Management is all about self preservation and could care less about those below them (based on my personal experience), also don’t expect transparency or honesty (One week you will be told one thing, and the next it is the complete opposite).

Thank you for sharing your candid feedback with us. Your comments are not indicative of the experience we strive to provide our employees here at SoFi. The health of our employees is incredibly important to us, so we are concerned to hear you didn't feel you had a healthy work/life balance and that the work environment was stressful. Our goal is to create a workplace where every employee feels valued and supported. While the nature of our business means we need to be flexible and agile in order to best support our Members, that should never come at the cost of your mental health or personal time. You may have left before we started to roll out a new Manager Onboarding Program, which is designed to give managers everything they need to know about managing people at SoFi, from how to foster inclusion and belonging on their team, to building their personal leadership brand. Our goal is to give all managers the tools they need to support and inspire their teams to do the best work of their lives. Thank you again for the review - we see feedback as a gift that will help us continue to improve the employee experience. If you would like to continue the conversation, we encourage you to reach out to us at glassdoor@sofi.org. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Lunch card..benefits..a job...not really too many

Cons

I really tried to be positive about this company starting out...they talked a great game...the company in itself really has potential...but right now it’s extremely trash. You dont find out about anything until the customer tells you(management never knew when their own app had issues until enough customers called and complained..and good luck trying to find a manager competent to help when they barely know what they are doing..they give you a bs talk off which leads to the customer frustrated and angry))..I actually read reviews before accepting the job offer, thinking people were exaggerating...but THEY WERE NOT. Its hell. You have to do 3-5 job roles at once that you were barely trained on...doing way more work then what you are paid to do..managers dont know anything ethier..man to write out all of the cons I would need more space...accept if you have no other job offers...I had a few and choose this one. And I regret it...thanks for pointing out the star rating :) wouldnt want to lead people to think this is actually a great company when its not. Hopefully you guys will put just as much effort into being a better company behind the scenes as you do responding to honest reviews.

We very much appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continuously improve as a company. We are very sorry to hear your experience at SoFi didn't meet your expectations. While all new hires joining the Operations team have formal training as part of their onboarding, we acknowledge there is room to create more scalable training resources. Let me assure you we are developing new initiatives that we will roll out this year. We have also just hired a Training and Development Leader to overhaul our manager training to ensure all managers have the tools and resources they need to create a supportive, inclusive work environment where their team can do the best work of their lives. Lastly, we continuously work to create opportunities to foster movement inside the organization while maintaining flexibility and agility. Sometimes, this means reallocating employees to where they are most needed to ensure we're able to meet the needs of our Members. We encourage you to reach out to us at glassdoor@sofi.org if you'd like to share more detail about your experience so we can improve in the future. We wish you the best of luck in your next endeavor.

Thanks for taking the time to leave an honest review of your SoFi experience. We're happy to hear you've enjoyed some of the benefits we offer employees, but are disappointed you feel compensation & growth opportunities have not met your expectations. We have a quarterly performance check-in program and a formal process to award merit increases and promotions. If you have questions about this formal process, please reach out to your manager or PBP. We also frequently review employee compensation to ensure it is fair and competitive based on external market data and individual performance. If you have any other feedback to share, we encourage you to share it with your manager, PBP, or email us at glassdoor@sofi.org. Thank you for being on this journey with us!
