Pros

Benefits. Paid lunch, snacks, bonuses, good salaries.

Cons

Salt Lake engineers are an island. The main engineering group is in Helena Mt. The corporate office is in San Francisco Ca. So growth opportunities for SLC engineers seem to be limited. Another con, hopefully soon to be fixed, is that the original CEO was removed by the board. And the new CEO just started. Soon, we assume, there will be a new CTO and more direction.

I am disappointed to hear that you feel your group is isolated from the rest of the SoFi Engineering community. We strive to foster growth opportunities for every employee in every line of work. Please send me a note to mcorrea@sofi.org so we can dive specifically into your situation. I look forward to hearing from you. – M. Correa, HR Business Partner

Great work environment, understanding that you have a life beyond the business. You'll work hard, but its worth it.

Cons

Startups are inherently more volatile.

Pros

There are some great benefits like the monthly contribution to your student loans and the food card.

Cons

There are many "incentives" the incentives are usually not paid out or not in a timely manner, and when you ask about the status management will always "get back to you." The food card is sometimes not paid out to you for at least a few days even though they are supposed to be loaded every two weeks. There are very strict rules, for instance if you have to urgently use the restroom, and it is not one of your scheduled breaks, it is likely that work force management will call your manager to make sure everything is fine, in some cases even if it is under 4 minutes. There is no leeway when it comes to breaks. You are to put customer service first, and if a customer takes up your break then you get no break. I did not receive my dental insurance cards until after I resigned, 8 months after my start date. Upper management does not care for you at all, they brush you off, in some cases management will not even take manager calls because they simply "do not want to."

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. It’s unfortunate to hear your experience was not more positive during your tenure at SoFi, but it’s valuable for us to hear all perspectives from both current and former employees. I can assure you that this is not the experience we want anyone to have at SoFi, so I made it my responsibility to investigate your concerns more closely. We appreciate our employees and are intentional about acknowledging a job well done. To reward our top performers, incentive bonuses are received on a quarterly basis. We pride ourselves on our generous meal card benefit which is guaranteed to arrive in our employees’ accounts on a bi-weekly basis, which is the Monday following a payroll date. There are occasions when our meal card benefit may arrive early, which is always a pleasant surprise. For our employees’ convenience, our dental cards are not needed to receive service, but can be downloaded from an online portal. Our management team has a strong commitment to both our employees’ safety as well as servicing our members and are expected to assist when available and needed. It is our managers’ responsibility to have a pulse on how our members are being serviced; However, if an unscheduled break is needed, a break is granted. Please don’t hesitate to share more thoughts with me by sending an email to tflood@sofi.org. Improvement is an ongoing requirement at SoFi, so I appreciate your feedback. – T.
