Pros

The mission of the agency as a whole is great. You will help a lot of people. The Service Representative (SR) position is an entry level position in the field office. You are the initial face of the agency to the claimants. If you are a people person, this position is for you. If you have patience, this position is for you. The agency does encourage upward growth.

Cons

The SR position is faced paces. You often don't feel like you are getting work done because more keeps coming in. If you work a straight 9-5, you will never get your workloads completed, you have to work credit hours or overtime (when available).

Pros

* Job Security (so long as Congress finds ways to keep funding it !). * The same desk I leave at the end of the day is the same desk I find if I'm gone for a month or two later. * One job at a time vs "fighting fires" each moment on the job.

Cons

Cost of benefits suck compared to what Private Industry offers you. "Affirmative Action" has resulted in lack of Caucasian males found within the ranks of Middle Mgmt.
