Pros

Flex time, relax dress code, can work extra hours for time off without using your vacation time, vacation time and sick leave are good. Bottom line the only thing good is the benefits. The one problem is they give you grief when you try to take sick leave or use your leave.

Cons

Lots nepotism going on in this bureaucracy. Family members get the jobs and the promotion, if you a favorite you will also get promoted, also lots of racism going on. To many women in the organization so results in lots of bickering and low pay. Chance of promotion...it's what position your family members are in, who you know and who the boss likes. Not open to ideas or improvements. They get defensive and make it that you are the problem. People don't even offer suggestions anymore. For an agency that is suppose to show compassion they so none to their employees. If your a hard worker you get more work and no promotions. No future in this agency. They have not been able to hire in several years and their computer programs are so behind that it makes the work even harder. They have not upgraded since the 80's. People are to busy passing their work on and they do not want to wait on the public. The 1-800 number is a joke..they have 5 minutes to answer you call so they pass your questions onto someone else to get back to you. To many meeting about nothing that is mandatory to attend. The poor customers that come in wait for 30 minutes to an hour to see one person to tell them what they want then they have to wait for another 30 to 2 hours to wait to see the person who can help them.

Pros

Flexible work schedule, great location, great pay, nice Thrift Savings Plan (retirement) with matching up to 5%, right now (2011 and forward) is a great time to join - many opportunities for moving up quickly.

Cons

If you are at all comfortable with a computer or MS Office, you will be considered the resident expert and may be asked to help others and work on special projects -- on the plus side, this is noticed and will help you move up as well.
