Free lunches, overall fellow employees are cool but not management

Cons

No opportunity to make money and onboarding training is not sufficient for people who have no prior experience in technology

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We take feedback like this very seriously. Our Sales Academy is an intensive 12 week program with a mix of in-class and on the job training. The first phase in the classroom is all about learning different technologies, Softchoice's offerings and go-to-market strategies. We focus on how to add value to our customer's experience. In the second phase of onboarding, our sales reps have the opportunity to apply their learning through real customer interactions and on-the-job experience. This year, the Sales Academy was recognized by the Institute for Sales Excellence for being a phenomenal onboarding program and for the impact it has on our sales organizations. You can see our press release here: https://www.softchoice.com/about/press/2017/249 and a list of IES winners from all categories here: https://i4esbd.com/awards/. Lastly, we recognize that the Softchoice is not for everyone. If at any point during Sales Academy, a student doesn't feel connected with the path they're on, we encourage them to have candid conversations with their manager and development coach. Ultimately, we actively encourage sales reps to own the outcome of their learning experience. In fact, graduates of our Sales Academy see success faster and earlier than sales peers who haven't enjoyed the Sales Academy experience.

Pros

I think that Softchoice has some truly incredible talent. Having a dog-friendly office is great, most people are very welcoming. Working in Lower Queen Anne is ideal. The training program when I started was a month long program in Toronto (which has since changed a bit), in which I learned so much and I was able to clearly see the culture that Softchoice is striving towards. It was an awesome experience. And again, there are some wonderful, hugely talented people who work at this company. If you have a good brand, growth is definitely possible. A lot of leadership worked their way up, which is very cool to see. You can learn a lot at Softchoice and when you have wins, they are celebrated.

Cons

The Seattle office just feels so toxic. Along with great people, there are some bad apples. It's truly feels like if you bring in a lot of money, you can get away with treating your teammates however you want - even if that (at any other company) would be a huge HR issue. The pay is not competitive, especially in the Seattle market. It doesn't feel like they care, even though they continuously lose great people to Amazon (and other companies, but mostly Amazon). And when people do chose to leave, often management doesn't handle it in an appropriate way - they either take it personally and/or give you the silent treatment - which is beyond weird. Also, professionalism in the office is very inconsistent, which honestly can be exhausting to be around. This office can drain you emotionally.

Pros

Good Health and Dental Benefits, Beautiful office location, and a very youthful work environment

Cons

Speaking on just the location of where I worked (Seattle), they had below average management and organizational structure issues. If you already have experience, this is not the place for you as they are looking for a blank canvas to sell within their "strategy". They do have some good managers and employees but it seems that the decision makers are rookies in the bigger scheme of tech sales. Career path is terrible in this company as your compensation is limited by their pay structure and their promotions are either vendor specialists, outside sales rep, or one of the 4-5 manager positions which are barely vertical moves up. If they want to have a sale focused company, they need to open up the commission structure or have multiple levels of positions to move up through but currently as it is, it's in a strange middle ground. The training is also poor here as they start well but don't know how to progress you up to your position. I was promoted to my position within 2 months mainly because a bunch of people quit around the same time.
