Pros

I entered Softchoice’s onboarding program in May 2015 and quickly found it to be the most motivating and enjoyable training experience of my career. As a recent University graduate, my experience in the industry of technology was limited, but I never felt disadvantaged because of my coaches’ unique, from-the-ground-up approach to corporate education. The basics of datacentre technology and effective sales techniques were discussed concurrently throughout four weeks of in-class training, so I learned about technology for the first time through the eyes of a sales representative. There was a lot more to learn from experience once I was in-role, but I believe my sales-tailored education helped me hit the ground running and find early success. Now outside of the classroom, I continue to learn and make use of the onboarding resources available to me. We often describe stepping into technology sales for the first time as "drinking from the fire hose." There is a lot to learn and it takes time no matter how fast you are. That said, I've felt supported and secure thanks to continued weekly meetings, one-on-ones with my development coach, and a corporate culture that encourages me to always ask questions.

Cons

My experience with the onboarding program was wholly positive.

Pros

Moving from ecommerce to the complex world of IT was nothing short of a hurdle. Upon completion of hiring process at Softchoice, I was immersed into a one-month in class training program that has been vital to my success as an Inside Sales Account Manager. Throughout my professional career I have not come across training let alone the investment that a company has taken to better my stance as an employee. Whether it was guest speakers, vendor-agnostic specialists, experience successful employees, we as the “newbies” were handed everything we needed to succeed, and then some. As a full-time Inside Sales Account Manager I have been exceeding my targets and expectations that were set out directly because of the amount of knowledge that came from my on-boarding training. I would recommend this company and my role specifically to anyone that is hungry for success and driven by shattering expectations.

Cons

At this time there is nothing I would put as a con.

Pros

Benefits are good You can bring your dog to work

Cons

Worked in operations: Softchoice has a lot of potential, a lot of great strategy and very little alignment across the org. Managers are not good at translating messages down from the top. If you are ambitious, this is not the place for you! Softchoice will hold you back, they won't invest in your training or development. They pay significantly below the market and antiquated policies do not allow for increases up to market. They are not good at nurturing and rewarding the talent they have. They would rather have you leave and replace you than give you an increase. Work/life balance at Softchoice is heavily skewed towards work. For a technology company they are leagues behind when it comes to internal systems. Everything is so manual.
