Pros

I have worked for 7 different companies in the IT field over the last 23 years. I have had positive experiences at each and every one. However, I must rate my experience at Softdocs at the top. I immensely enjoy working with the people and the work is both challenging and rewarding. Softdocs has given me the opportunity to grow personally beyond my expectations. The owners at Softdocs are genuine, authentic, personable, caring and at the same time, very savvy. They set the tone for leadership and the company culture. I am extremely blessed to have such a high-quality team of developers and testers to work alongside. Every member of the team is driven to see the company succeed and to grow personally. Challenges are embraced and the team has proven that they are more than capable to deliver results. I have a great relationship with the other managers. They are quick to support me and to work together. They are fully willing to communicate and share ideas.

Cons

The commute from the Irmo/Ballentiine area to downtown Columbia can sometimes be troublesome.

Fun place to work, but little growth

Pros

The culture was great, and all the employees were like a family. Group outings and holiday parties were also fun, and the company tries to look out for their employees. Also very flexible and the bosses were all nice.

Cons

There was little room for growth because of the 'small' culture of the company. You could easily gain experience, and add onto your workload, if you wanted to wanted to venture out in the company, but generally you will be doing what you were hired for. And like someone else mentioned before, things don't really change, they just keep on keeping on...

Thank you for your feedback and thoughts. We’re proud of our family culture, and appreciate you were able to enjoy it during your time with us. It really is something that makes us stand out and is a huge part of who we are as a company. One thing I did want to note is that since your departure a few years back, we’ve made significant investments in our R&D team. We’ve added nearly 20 employees to that one team alone, and as a result have been able to release an entirely new suite of fully browser-based enterprise content management, e-forms and workflow solutions for our education and local government customers. In short, your review is correct – we needed to grow that team to make the big changes our customers want, and we feel that we’ve done so. Again, thanks for responding. Please stop by and visit next time you’re in town.

Thank you for your thoughts and taking the time to provide feedback. We’re glad you were able to appreciate our friendly work environment and culture. We agree that our co-workers do care about one another, having seen many such examples this past year as members of the team lost family members or welcomed new additions to their families. As I’ve noted in feedback on other reviews, the management team is aware that status quo has been a challenge over the years, as it is with any mature company. However, we feel that we’ve made tremendous headway in really embracing change for the good. Between investing heavily in R&D and launching three new industry-leading products within the past year, continuing to grow our professional service and training offerings and investing in a new headquarters that not only embraces but encourages constant team interaction, there’s a lot of positive movement forward occurring. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We do read these posts and do what we can to learn and grow from them.
