The Solarcoaster

Pros

Good growth potential in renewable energy industry. Largest player in the US. Excellent leadership with Elon Musk as chairman. Rapid ongoing development of systems and processes gives this large established company the feel and energy of a startup.

Cons

FEC role has almost a 100% turnover rate. Unless you're living with your parents you can't earn a decent living until at least year two. Don't expect your first commission check earlier than 8 months in. This is a difficult sell in a skeptical, wary market. Lots can and does go wrong even after the sale - much outside your control. The recruiter (as is typical) lied about the prospect and likelihood of earning six figures in this role.

Pros

The company had great commission opportunity with the flexibility of no micromanagement. The schedule was not awful either, you had the ability to work as early as 8am or as late as 12pm. SolarCity also had great incentives like Families helping families, were you can gain stock for anyone you refer to the company that gets hired.

Cons

SolarCity has the ability to be a good company, however it's choice in management was awful. It was the same redundant pitch everyday. Sure you can change it up but you get beat down everyday by rude, inconsiderate customers. When you, or any of your teammates approach your management with the need of positive reinforcement you are told to not be negative. The mangers are very unprofessional, they talk about employees and other management to other team members making it a hostile work environment. They only promote people with high numbers to be management. Anyone with management experience knows, just because someone can produce sales DOES NOT mean they could be in leadership. SolarCity needs major improvement in human resources, administration, and definitely in management.

No work life balance

Pros

Great cause. Assisting mother earth while helping families is great, but that comes at a personal price.

Cons

Many. You don't have an outside life thought it may appear and you are told it's not as they say. Preferencial treatment to those who appear to be doing work and not to those who actually do the work. ...
