Pros

This company is hiring a lot of people and needs good customer service representatives. The atmosphere is friendly. They provide free cereal, English muffins, and soda through the vending machine. They seem to be very congenial and try to keep their employees working for them.

Cons

Seriously understaffed. Not enough training to adequately perform the job functions. Pretty much you are left to your own devices Expected to be knowledgeable in troubleshooting solar systems. There are long delays in project completion and employees in customer care are expected to be able to set the customer at ease even when it is our fault All communications are through email and that affects turn around time in my opinion. Frustrating and spinning wheels all the time everyone says the work is someone else's responsibility. They talk about above and beyond customer service but there is not a lot of follow through. I would not work for this company given the opportunity to choose again.

Difficulty getting paid!

Pros

"Green" company with a view toward a cleaner environment. The best part of the job was the efficient, knowledgeable and professional installers.

Cons

Had to wait up to 3 months to get paid, after solar panel installations. Local management said it would be easy to make a 6-figure income. That same management, after training, often said he was too busy to assist his sales reps. We either had wait to have customer questions answered or guess. One hand didn't seem to know what the other was doing.

Pros

The company is inspiring in many ways and it is rewarding to be working toward a cause. The company also supports great programs giving solar to schools without electricity, supporting vets, etc.

Cons

The prerequisites for a management position are numbers and a Y chromosome. Some managers have little or no management experience - it is a challenge for the growing company as managers need a strong understanding of SolarCity as well as the ability to lead.
