Pros

- Generally the people you work with are positive and fully believe in the companies mission (i.e. drinks the kool-aid). - Working here made me feel like I was truly part of a positive and life changing movement. - Company firmly believes in promoting from within. Mid and upper level management jobs were rarely filled by outside hires. - Company provides employees with free equipment to preform their jobs like cell phones, laptops, and even cars if you have an outside sales job. - Great medical benefits

Cons

- Poor communication from upper management down - Transparency could be improved. - Pay is below industry standards. - SolarCity tends to still operate as a fly by the seat of your pants startup. Perhaps that will change with the acquisition by Tesla, but businesses processes that should have been introduced in year 1 and 2 were being introduced in year 6 and 7. - Departmental change to improve efficiently is epically slow. - The "One Team, One Dream" mentality can lead to "us vs. them" situations. Management would squash any decent in the ranks fairly quickly. - At the time I left the company, SolarCity did not offer a matching 401k - The higher you rise within the company, the more you are expected to be a 24/7 employee.

Pros

-Regular Paycheck -Getting to say you work for Elon Musk -Your Co-workers

Cons

This company is driven by its stockholder's interests, not the customer's or the employees. The products and customer service are sub-standard. To get a project to completion you often times have to fight inside sales and the incompetent "concierge" team who will harass your customers with phone calls, rude site surveyors, installers that are overworked and underpaid will leave a bad taste in your customer's mouth. Its difficult to get referrals and every project feels like you have to babysit it. Upper management uses scare tactics to motivate its team members and management. They change their mind about what they want in performance metrics every couple of days and use extremely inefficient practices that do not result in installed solar systems. They do not provide their sales associates with the tools they need to succeed. Installations take so much time to happen that there are cancellations left and right. The benefits are minimal and deductables are high. If you are a consultant here don't expect to have any days off.
