Pros

Good atmosphere, great product that you can believe in. Flexible schedule and overall enjoyable job. Company car was definitely an essential given the huge amount of time spent driving to appointments that were often not there or weren't real appointments at all. Great CEO and overall company mission, they really believe in what they are doing.

Cons

It's a lot of work to take a customer through from start to finish with their solar project, and you are the main person responsible for doing so. Commission seemed very low for leads they gave to you, the only way to make a decent amount of commission would be to generate your own leads. You have to fight to keep leads you've been given otherwise they are quick to reassign them, even jobs that you've closed you need to stay on top of if there is any sort of delay for the job (very often) or somebody else will sneak in and take it and you won't get paid. It's not a terribly complicated or difficult thing to sell, so it must be okay for them to continue with low pay and very high turnover rates.

Pros

Many people are great to work with. There are a lot of cheerleaders in the company, so it can be fun.

Cons

No 401K matching. Difficult to get a raise, even though you had demonstrated success. There are a lot of fire drills, some of them are costly. I have felt that leadership has not been honest, or set unrealistic expectations; many broken promises.

Pros

work environment is relaxed. and most people are friendly

Cons

communication between engineers and managers aren't the greatest, not a good place to work at if you want to grow fast as an engineer. low pay compare to most bay area companies. expect to work overtime but get paid less

Thank you for this review. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the work environment and culture at SolarCity, but unfortunate that you didn’t feel there was an opportunity to grow here. We believe strongly in providing career opportunities to our teammates, and promoting our top performers from within whenever possible. As a company, we have grown exponentially over the past ten years, and while we’re in the midst of change right now, we are really excited about what’s ahead for the company and our teammates. Thanks again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best.
