Pros

Yeah I've made some money but at what cost? Long hours, BS'ing customers and hoping they make it to install. Kiss the right behinds and you MAY move up or into a better position.

Cons

Upper management from the National sales manager on down will feed you more garbage and kool-aid than anyone can take. This is high pressure, lie your butt off sales. All they want is numbers. Management is a joke as all they do is cover their own butts. Have a great month? They love you! Have a bad month? You'll get humiliated. Managers are terrible egomaniacs and do nothing but ride you to call the same leads over and over again. Leads are terrible as well - unqualified, retreads, and more.

Pros

Young culture Fast growing, here to stay Tendency to promote form within

Cons

Most of the five star reviews are predictably from sales representatives. It makes sense. With the customer base growing rapidly, there is a lot of commission to be made, and they are making it. But from the inside, things are very different. I work in an administrative position. First thing to know: if you're going to work at a customer-facing job AFTER the sales representative has received commission, you'll need thick skin. The unfortunate reality is that many of the sales are made through blatant lying, and misrepresentation. After the sale is made, the representative neither cares nor is held responsible for the customer that was just passed over to the rest of the company. Customers are very often angry and confused about the agreement they've signed, and rightfully so. There is no accountability system to hold these representatives responsible for their very unethical business practices on the field, and there doesn't seem to be any system in the works. Simple reason: they're the reason why the company is growing so rapidly. Management turns a blind eye. Next point: the company is growing faster than it can handle. New employees are cramming for space. Protocols are underdeveloped. Departments are overworked and understaffed. There is job security in the sense that the company is around for the long haul. There isn't in the sense that your department might be changing drastically tomorrow, perhaps even being dissolved. The psuedo-inspirational jingoism serves as a great distraction. You're constantly told you're "changing the world" and "making it a better place" when in reality you're regurgitating parsed language to get customers to stop spitting and cursing on the phones. There are a lot of kinks to be straightened out with this company, some very obvious positive points, but i think my perspective is underrepresented and need to gain more visibility.

Pros

SolarCity is an amazing company on the broadest level. The hype is mostly true. They have a great product that can help average American families.

Cons

Regional Managers were extremely misleading in the interview. ATTENTION: All potential sales do not say yes to the "Training Program" it does not exist. There just looking to put you into a Lead Generation role. I was told the company no longer hired directly to FEC positions but they have hired three since I have started. I had and decent job and did not need to leave it. My interviewers sold me a song and it is on me for believing them. My reward? A lead generation role and not being able to pay my bills.
