Pros

Work that makes you feel like you're making a difference.

Cons

High rate of people being terminated or leaving for not making their numbers. The sad thing is that you are not in total control of your numbers. No work life balance,The "Back-End" work you do is atrocious ,you are always trying to fix mistakes of all the under paid departments that touch your job that could potentially get it cancelled. work 7 days a week or leave. There are 4 different types of sales departments and since there is no commission splits inside sales reps steal from FEC',s REC's and DEC's don't get along. Customers hardly referrer due to all the inconsistencies throughout the process.

Pros

The best reason to work for SolarCity is that the product is actually pretty darn good. Affordable, clean solar energy. Good software and support tools to work with. Full benefits and a company car.

Cons

As my review title says, working for SolarCity is a meat grinder. They LOVE to pump the Kool-Aid to their employees about "work/life balance," but the fact of the matter is, you're working CONSTANTLY, and the pressure and hassle is almost unrelenting. Want to spend weekends, or even just Sundays with your family? Maybe take an actual vacation? If you're not way above quota, forget about it. It's important to note that of the thousands of people who sell for this company in the Southern California area, there's probably less than a dozen who have managed to stay there for longer than 4 or 5 years. What does that tell you about the way they treat their employees?

Wrote a mediocre review, then got fired without cause.

Pros

Excellent mission, the goal of sustainable energy for everyone is great to be a part of.

Cons

Underpaid in every position, they'll take advantage of people wanting to save the world and under pay across the board. Management cannot anticipate anything, so all decisions and direction are reactive. This makes for a horribly chaotic work environment. You're treated as a number, not a person. Management is obsessed with metrics, only looking at a black and white number and not taking in any other information for their decisions. Work life balance is essentially non existent, you're expected to work all the time. Even the most recent holidays. Told you'd be paid additional bonus for working them, then they're "forgotten about" when payday rolls around. Currently pushing "perfect customer experience" without taking any time to focus on the internal customers which are the employees.
