Pros

There are some front line level folks really trying to take care of customers

Cons

Solera is where good businesses go to die. I watched several once good companies get acquired/folded in to this mess and they sucked any goodness out of them. Most anyone with any talent figures this out quickly and leaves. A few that are dedicated and buy into the hype take a little longer to figure it out, but they too leave eventually too. Comp plans are always late, changing mid year, and good luck trying to audit your payout. Managers have to do all of the work in the hiring process (and you'll be doing a lot of hiring as turnover is very high). HR doesn't even do background checks- the front line managers do. Most of Sr. Leadership is clueless about the individual businesses and customers realize this quickly. Tracking software is used on all users computers - they'll berate employees who don't travel enough, but at the same time berate them if they are not online enough- people can't do both and have any life. Have you every watched "Office Space"? Solera is basically the "Bob's" running a company, just add a lot more "Bob's".

Pros

They offer a well stocked refrigerator for breakfast, lunch and dinner options so you never have to leave the office. Water, tea and power drinks are also a plus.

Cons

The positive ratings on this site are written by request. Leadership is watchful of any/all Glassdoor comments which is interesting since they don't seem to really care much at all about engaging their employees once someone accepts a job offer. All of the negative reviews are factual. Hiring and people practices are disgraceful at best. Folks who still work there feel that the company went private so they could better hide and cover up their unethical business and people practices. The stock price was on a severe decline and the credit rating is BB- with a negative outlook... I wouldn't bet my career on this company.

Uncommon or Unhealthy Culture

Business Outlook

Pros

None; the place promotes their uncommon culture, but, any where you read the word uncommon, replace it with unhealthy.

Cons

I worked here for about seven months and I had 5 bosses; they fire people who do not fall in to line with the cult like unhealthy culture. Some will and have conformed and seem to do well but only because they have sold their soul to the 80/20, 90/10, 30/30 stuff that is overused and misunderstood by nearly everyone. Did not meet the CEO, but did hear him screaming at people and cussing at people and verbally beating people down too many times. If that is the "uncommon" work experience you are looking for, join the team.

Solera Response

Solera is a passionate work environment made up of driven individuals that desire to raise the bar. We do this by staying laser focused on the 20 that creates the 80. The disruptive and high-paced nature of our business means that we must be fluid, flexible and, most importantly, honest with one another. Feedback is open and direct but never personal so the team succeeds. That is what we call the 90/10. A coach doesn’t yell at his players from the sideline to demean them but to motivate and push them to be the best. That being said, we realize that working for any company is a very personal decision and we are a volunteer force. Those who volunteer have significant growth opportunities in the US and 77 other countries.
