Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are happy to hear that you are enjoying the culture and the company of your colleagues! Over the past 10 years, Sonepar USA has experienced tremendous growth in the United States. The decline of commodity prices, especially oil and gas impacted parts of our business, especially our industrial customers. We are currently being selective in the positions that we are hiring for and we do offer merit increases. However, there are several business units along with corporate that are not anticipating merits in 2016 only. These groups and corporate are directly impacted by the oil and gas industry downturn. We do not anticipate this practice continuing in the future. I encourage you to reach out to your HR Leader to discuss this further or you can reach out to our Director of Talent Acquisition, Pam Midden Conlin.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate the comments on your experience with our Sr. Leaders, that is the culture that we strive for. It is unfortunate that you were not able to see the career path in your area. We have a talent planning process that encourages functional leaders to discuss career aspirations/opportunities with their associates on an annual basis. We also post job openings and encourage people to apply internally. At Sonepar USA, we encourage associates of all levels to acquire and apply new knowledge to their careers. We have developed a variety of programs to help our associates develop professionally. Training EDU is our eLearning system that provides associates with 24/7 access to up-to-date content that can assist in their career development. We also offer several instructor led development programs for managers and associates. These are our Sales and Operations development program, Leadership from the Inside Out, and the Sonepar Junior Committee. Additionally, all of our associates are encouraged to discuss their professional goals with their managers so they can work together to develop a career path within Sonepar or one of our operating companies. We typically conduct exit interviews when associates leave our organization, in order to recognize trends and opportunities to improve. I encourage you to reach out to our Senior Vice President of HR, Janine McManus, if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Pros

Rotational programs offers a great way to learn how the industry runs Great exposure to upper management within Operation Co and through out Sonepar Relaxed internal atmosphere Offers good amount of opportunity

Cons

Most Operation Co's are severely lagging behind in technology (ex. Microsoft Office 2007...) Elderly workforce... makes being sociable difficult as a young employee Goals of Training Program do not seem to be communicated well by Sonepar to OpCo's Final expectation of trainees is difficult to gauge, no real direction on where you're going post-program

Thank you for your review. We value the associates who have grown their careers with us and we are also driven to recruit new talent, which is why our Sales and Operations Development program is so important to our organization. It has facilitated the development of emerging talent and benefits our succession planning as key associates near retirement over the next several years. I’m sorry to hear you feel the program has not been communicated well within your organization. I encourage you to reach out to our Director of Talent Acquisition, Pam Midden Conlin to discuss your concerns. Our trainees have a variety of options upon finishing the program, but primarily transition into outside sales or operations focused opportunities, with 83% moving into sales and 17% into operations. If you have concerns regarding next steps following the trainee program, please contact Kelly Brennan, Sales and Operations Program Leader. We are committed to helping guide our trainees in future endeavors.
