Sonoma State is not as concerned with integrating contingent faculty into its culture than other CSU schools.

Union benefits mean that CSU lecturers are paid better than most lecturers nationwide.

Cons

Lecturers are not integrated into the professional community. Treated more like staff than faculty. Few if no opportunities to rise.

Pros

The training and feedback is great to have with supervisors. The job is also great because it involves you on your campus. I spent my time between planning events, having 1 on 1 meetings with residents, mediating conflict with suitemates, and walking around and addressing policy violations on campus.

Cons

The on cal set up is not safe for women, as there have been many dangerous situations with aggressive, drunk males who have threatened females while being on call.
