It's not for everyone, but if you can maneuver through the politics, you can do really well.

Pros

Discounts on lots of different products throughout the year. Great people to work with, too. Sony does try to do a lot for its people.

Cons

A lot of old upper management with 20+ years call the shots so the thinking is very stagnant and it's all about keeping the same good ol' boys employed although they have no new ideas or bring much value to the table.

Benefits are decent. The building is conveniently located next to the San Jose airport.

Cons

Rank/file employee turnover at this business unit is incredibly high. Specifically, turnover is at least 4-5 times higher than most Silicon Valley companies. As a result, this business unit is "always hiring." In contrast, no one in senior management has left this business unit in the past 10 years. HR is aware of some (but probably not all) of the problems that exist in this business unit. However, unlike an American company, HR is powerless to do anything.
