Pros

I struggled to find pros about this company.

Cons

Sound is very unethical. Please review the case in 2013 where that had to settle with medicare for 13 + million dollars. They will push you to bill ACP codes, higher billing, discharge to home instead of SNF to get more money and risk your license. However, if anything happens to the patient, they will not stand by you in court. They lie in the interview process about patient load, it is not where near 16 patients, more like 20-22. Chief has no say when it comes to sound or the hospital, it is purely an ornate position. Hospital staff disrespects all sound physicians and treat us like residents. Lower pay than any other hospitalist in the region. They prey on new grads who has no experience and do not know what to look for in a contract. In terms of the site itself. Stay away from the biggest Hospital in Cleveland, the not number 1 clinic. They now have plan of care rounds, meaning they mandate you to do bed side rounding with the nurse and a care manager on every patient. That takes about 45 mins to an hour. They now also have a psychologist to evaluate you during rounds. On top of course sound's daily morning huddle that takes 30 mins. Sound billing is archaic and takes additional 30 mins. And every week they have an hourly meeting. All non paid. So about 1.5 - 2.5 hours per day is spent on additional non pain adminstrative work. This particular hospital is very disrespectful to the Hospitalists. Specialists scold you for consults because they are underpaid employees. And they tell this to nurses who in turn disrespect the Hospitalist In summary: Low pay, High patient load, no hospital or management respect, high liability, unethical billing practices

We are very sorry to read about your experience as a Sound colleague, this is certainly not the experience we wish to create for our clinicians. If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to reach out to your leadership team and our People Support team.

Pros

Recruiter excellent at finding dependable and excellent hospitalist colleagues.

Cons

Sound Physicians are more interested in pleasing a hospital at the expense of its employees to keep a contract with that hospital. Sound appears to be interested in the bottom line rather than in the best interests of their employees.

Pros

Competitive starting salary - though after factoring poor benefits it is deceivingly non competitive. After experiencing the worst work environment at Sound I really value my time spent at other previous employers and my current employer even more!

Cons

Sound's Core Values exist on paper, not in practice. Nurses are measured on physician performance which pressures nurses to question physician documentation to increase billing/acuity, pressure physicians to discharge patients sooner over safer, and target & pressure bundled medicare patients to discharge home only since skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers cuts into Sound's profit margin.

Thank you for your feedback. We are continuously looking for ways to improve our processes and our passion for our core values is, in my opinion, what sets us apart.
