Pros

Decent benefits, including options for life insurance for the spouse

Cons

It is all about money, they work you to death! And still they expect to have “patient satisfaction” and good quality measures when adding more and more people to your list for the sake of the productivity. They call people off to increase the numbers in the list and avoid paying one more person (they do not pay for those day).

First and foremost, thank you for caring for our patients. The work you do as a hospitalist is essential to the well-being of the communities we serve. As CEO for Hospital Medicine, I have a responsibility to ensure we're not only taking better care of our patients, but also taking better care of each other. It sounds like the experience you're having isn't congruent with the culture we try to foster. I agree that medicine isn't a production line — and shouldn't feel that way to the folks providing care. Reach out to me directly via email, as I'd like to hear more about your pain points and how we might better address them. — Mihir Patel, CEO, Hospital Medicine

Hello and thanks for sharing here. We appreciate the time you spent with us and hope this finds you well, wherever you've landed. Our colleagues are some of the best, and we pride ourselves on showing up for each other through the good and the not-so-good. While we've weathered some change in recent months, we believe it's ultimately change for the better. We acknowledge that not everyone wants to be along for the ride, and sometimes, we part ways. Still, our sights are set on a better path ahead, and we're excited for the future of Sound. We welcome any additional feedback, anytime, at belong@soundphysicians.com. — The Sound Team

Pros

Supportive Leadership: The leadership team, including our CEO and RMD, has always been approachable and supportive. They genuinely care about the well-being and professional growth of their staff. I have worked at other Anesthesia management companies and the support we receive here is unmatched. Genuine focus on wellbeing: Sound Physicians places a high value on work-life balance. As a physician, this balance is crucial, and I appreciate the flexible scheduling and support in managing my workload. Collaborative Environment: The team culture here is fantastic. My colleagues are highly professional, and we work collaboratively to provide the best care for our patients. Professional Development: There are ample opportunities for professional development. Sound Institute, which is their professional development division, provides ample opportunities for leadership development and continuous medical education. The leadership is open to new ideas and is more than willing to incorporate new evidence-based practices. One example would be the support we receive in training our staff in Point-of-care Ultrasonography and other cutting-edge practices in ERAS pathways and regional Anesthesia. Patient-Centered Care: The company’s focus on patient-centered care aligns perfectly with my professional values. It's fulfilling to work for an organization that prioritizes high-quality patient care. Our new CMO has a laser focus on quality and patient safety.

Cons

Adjustment to Collaborative Culture: It took some time to get adjusted to the highly collaborative culture between physicians and CRNAs. While the teamwork is ultimately rewarding, the initial adjustment period required patience and adaptation. System Integration: Integrating into the new systems and protocols unique to Sound Physicians also required some effort and time to get used to, but the support and training provided were very helpful.
