Pros

There are many pros to working as a PA in hospitalist medicine for Sound Physicians. I am a new member at the Aiken Regional site, and I love how much each member of the team truly cares about each others success. The 3 month training program that I went through as a new provider is well-structured with online learning modules and lectures as well as time spent with both teams of providers for one-on-one training. Sound provides tremendous opportunities for growth as a provider, and gives you the tools necessary to succeed in the hospitalist medicine environment. There is opportunity for compensation bonuses, moonlighting shifts, and to one day become a Sound Partner. My site provides free lunches and we only have one meeting or even no meetings per day which allows plenty of time with patients and rounding.

Cons

Not much break time during the day for lunch or rest, busy and challenging working environment which is something I love as a new graduate but may not be for all types of providers

Pros

Good pay. Some genuinely awesome people work here.

Cons

It’s been almost a year since I left, and I’m still processing the torture that was this job. Doctors run this company. They’re medical experts, and they think they’re experts at everything else. Consequently, the all-MD C-suite don’t trust employees to do their jobs. Department managers understand this dynamic. So, to protect their own careers, they never stand up for their employees. Succeeding at Sound depends on appearing to be competent—not doing meaningful work. Do yourself a favor. Skip the two years of misery, and work ANYWHERE else.
