Pros

Sound Transit cares about its employees and it shows in how they are treated along with the benefits. They trust their employees to do the right thing and get the good work done. It is a fast growing organization with many opportunities for career growth.

Cons

The pay is not top of market. Like many orgs, they are having challenges filling open positions, putting pressure on the existing workers. Because it's a government agency that partners with *many* organizations (such as King County Metro/Rail), things can take a long time to get accomplished.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We really do care about our employees - thank you for noting that. As for salaries, we set them at the mid-point of the market, so some companies offer higher salaries than we do, while others are lower. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package and retirement plan. Please feel free to reach out to our HR team at any time with additional feedback!

Pros

Upbeat and growing agency. Passionate people and friendly work environment.

Cons

Relatively incompetent workforce that you’d expect at a “young” organization. Failure at many levels that is evidenced by constant cost overruns reported in the news.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. With such a large capital expansion program underway, we are experiencing growing pains, as well as a variety of other factors like the steep rise in real estate and construction costs in our region. (https://www.soundtransit.org/system-expansion/realignment). With all of these challenges, we know our workforce is dedicated, talented and passionate about connecting more people to more places and making a difference. We also know we can always improve, and we would love to know what we could have done better during your work experience. Our HR team would welcome hearing more of your feedback if you wish to reach out.

Pros

Good medical, dental and vision benefits. Provides an ORCA card that can be used on buses, trains and light rail.

Cons

Departments operate in silos and people don't always communicate with each other. There is also no room for advancement in some departments. There isn't a path for existing employees to get promoted. Current employees have to apply and interview for jobs along with the general public.
