Pros

The only and one place to get a real exposure to the e-commerce industry.

Cons

Every aspect of management is absent, the management itself keep on saying for over 3 years that "we will not hesitate when it comes to firing people"!! how that will affect the employees loyalty. Everything is just a matter of how much you are a good boy to your superiors. 60% of your colleagues are professional backstabbers for no obvious reason at all. Salaries are way below average, and the work load is absolutely unreasonable. Managers deliberately deliver some very negative feedback about other teams and other regional offices of Souq.com Hiring has became a joke in the last year. There's no plan at all to deal with your daily tasks, no prioritizing whatsoever. They've hired the worst employees to be the heads of each key department in the company. They (the upper management) spent tens of thousands on their trip to Lebanon to set some sort of a management camp so they can have a meeting to discuss the cost reduction plan!!

We are really sorry to hear about your negative experience. It would be great to receive some constructive feedback to ensure other employees within your team don't go through the same thing. Wish you all the best with your future Endeavors

Pros

Nice office space and proximity to the mall and metro station

Cons

I've been living and working in the U.A.E for the last 10 years, and worked in 5 different organizations in Dubai. Souq.com is by far the worst company i worked for, i'm thankful that i moved to another organization. 1. The HR department is one of the worst i've ever seen. Not professional at all, and not taking the employees' sides. They keep promising without delivering, and if you feel wronged they'll never help you. 2. My manager used to manipulate with the reports and present fake reports and numbers to the management in order to cover himself. We were doing all the work and he was getting all the recognition, and the senior management knew that and decided to do nothing. 3. They will fire you after 2 years and replace you with someone else with less salary. This is how they believe the best way for cost savings!!! I've seen it with senior people, talented, and hard workers. 4. When the time came to let go some of the employees for cutting costs, they were very racist in their selections. 5. They also decided to fire those on husband's visas eventhough they're among the top performers, rather than choosing those who are low performers, and the reason provided is that those will not have a problem staying in the country! Unbelievable! so basically it doesn't matter if you work hard or not. 6. Be friends with your managers if you want to get promoted quickly, don't count on working hard and proving yourself, that's the work environment at Souq.com 7. Salaries are below market average, and when the time comes for the appraisal and increments, they'll be ready to fire an entire team and build a new one with lower salaries, this happened in February 2016 where more than 200 employees were fired. i can go on and on, but i hope this will give you an idea about this company. Don't join them, they'll just work you to hard and then get rid of you at the first chance.

Pros

* The biggest e-commerce platform in the region, you get to know how big scale companies work. * Pays relatively high salaries compared to other companies in the region.

Cons

* Terrible management, specially the technical managers. Their knowledge is very outdated. * Souq.com's system is very bad when it comes to the quality of code, architecture and testability. * Managers take decisions based on their personal interests. * Managers are horrible when they deal with employees. Always you will see many fightings and insults during some meetings. * There's no team spirit, specially among the technical teams. Every team is acting like an enemy for the other. * Very political environment. If you can make good relationships with the managers then you will be safe. You will always see people fighting in meetings and on their communication channels. No body can be creative in an environment like this. * Nobody cares about the quality of the code or the design. Everyone just needs to deliver. * Very depressing work environment with huge amounts of workload. * There's no clear plan and goals. You just get surprised by some stupid features and projects that you should finish and you don't even know why. * The technical team suffers from poor planning. Every year employees will work literally 24/7 before the big events like White Friday and nobody literally will care! The management just wants money. * Many unprofessional people in this company can decide your fate. * The company mainly depends on the personal interests and decisions. Nothing there is professional at all. * The work-life balance does not exist. You can be called anytime during your vacations or weekends to finish work. People will always do extra hours with no compensation.
