College should never be run under a business model
Pros
Very much like the faculty I work with and enjoy the students
Cons
Management does not treat staff well Decisions are made by the top level of administration about areas in which they have not expertise Administrators seem to be chosen on a "buddy system" Staff are fired at will and openly in front of other employees Administration speaks of retention but the policies go against retention Benefits run along the lines of a corporation-- very little PTO (15 days total for vacation and sick and cannot be carried over). Also if you retire or resign, any unused PTO is not payed out. Staff are monitored on their phone by administration and their computer activities monitored Policies are not followed equally for staff, faculty, or students The bottom line is the number of incoming students and convincing them stay no matter what situation might be best for the student
