Pros

Stable work environment (the utility is not moving out of state anytime soon) with good pay levels compared to similar work situations. Good benefits package, including a no-longer-common pension. Lots of opportunities for skill development and movement within the company.

Cons

There is too much emphasis on meeting meaningless and far from 'SMART' goals. A pervasive entitlement mentality of many employees undermines the morale of many business units. Widespread nepotism and favoritism are destructive and discouraging to those people who actually want to work. Way too much time is spent on monitoring employee performance.

Pros

I was hired through the JSP Connected program, which allows high school students to work at Edison service centers. The company is very structured, and I'm considering a career with them during and after college.

Cons

The balance between work life and personal life isn't very even, some employees are too dedicated and spend more time at work than they do with their families.

Pros

The benefits are good and job security is high because they seem to keep people forever -- regardless of talent

Cons

There is a general culture of mediocrity and unprofessional management. The work itself is kind of boring
