Terribly Led Company and Unhappy Workforce

Pros

Very hard working work force at the non management level. The end product is great and a tribute to the work force. The company truly cares about being a good neighbor. Very good benefits and long term retirement.

Cons

This is the most politically driven company I have ever experienced with no accountability in its culture. Promotions are inequitable and typically given based on gender, race or if you are related to somone at a high level. Most managment are not qualified for their positions. They do not understand the power business and certainaly lack the leadership qualities to lead, coach and motivate others. They typically acheieved those positions based on their connections and do not seem to convery the same message and leadership seen at the highest exectuvie level. Accountability is only passed down and not seen at the management levels. The work force genrally does not trust management. These issues are reasons why this company is desperately suffering from failures at many of their current projects. Upper management is not forthright with its people or its Puble Service Commisions on project status and critical issues. In summary, this company does not walk its talk. It professes to live by a motto of Superior Performance, Total Committment and Unquestionable Trust. The reality is most of the population there hate it and if you are not the right race or gender, and if you do not do alot of butt kissing....you will not succeed.

Pros

Competitive salary compared to peers in the industry. Good benefits package. Opportunity to gain experience working in a large utility company.

Cons

New C-suite hires were chosen primarily for being pro–Return to Office, otherwise ignored. Company culture has shifted — promises made to employees are not being honored. Promotions are driven by favoritism and networking (“buddy system”) rather than merit. Some managers advanced by “brown-nosing” rather than skill, leaving teams without proper guidance or leadership. Employees who don’t fit the preferred mold often face more scrutiny, while others get a pass.
