Pros

Automatic pay raises. Can get other stuff done at work.

Cons

No challenge and most employees add no value. Management is very political and doesn't give constructive criticism. Very little opportunity for advancement and usually when jobs are posted they are pre-filled.

The location was relatively close to home with above average benefits

Cons

The worst management structure, leaders without little or no IT knowledge or experience, with no understanding of the latest and greatest technologies. Very poor decision making ability, and built from the top down to micromanage employees with little or no trust in the employees. Treated salaried, professional employees as hourly employees. Hired as a manager for a VP who had no management structure and just lumped in with other employees. Was given no ability to lead or manage.

Pros

Southwire can be an amazing company to work for. Great pay (I make $23/hr with only a high school diploma.) I take home about $700/week after tax, 401k, insurance, ect. The Richards family (whom own Southwire) are great people. The readily reinvest in the company and they are growing the Carrollton GA area. Their business strategies are buy, buy, buy! They buy all of their competition I.E. Coleman Cable. There opportunities are their, but you have to be willing to marry the company if you're going to advance.

Cons

Depending on your plant location you can have amazing managment or horrible managment. That alone is the difference between your job being gravy, or being miserable. I have worked 12/hr/day/ 7/week for a very long time because management refused to fill open positions. I understand that they are trying to avoid layoffs, but we can't be expected to work constantly. The 14 on 1 off rule is BS.
