Disappointing

Pros

Remote work environment allows for a really great work-life balance. This company is big on diversity and inclusion and you can tell it's not just talk for them. This is the one thing they do get right.

Cons

The company is undergoing significant changes which has impacted a great deal of its workforce. New CEO in 2023, a year later, a lot of leadership has been canned and now a good chunk of the support groups along with them. It's been the biggest disappointment and let-down from a company in all of my career. I wanted to have such high hopes for SOVOS as well as a long stable tenure, but the way they've executed their "positive changes" leaves nothing to desire and has severely tainted my usually positive view of the organization.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're glad that the flexibility of our work environment and our commitment to diversity and inclusion have positively impacted your experience. As you noted, diversity and inclusion aren’t just talk for us—they are core values we remain committed to as we move forward. The past year has certainly been one of significant change as we work toward our vision of transforming compliance into a force for growth. While these changes have strengthened our market position and benefited are customers, we understand change can be difficult and can impact our team members. These decisions are made with careful consideration, as we focus on building a company that can succeed long-term for both employees and customers. I completely agree with your feedback that process improvement is critical. This is why we’ve launched a company-wide initiative focused on productivity and capacity improvements, starting with key functions like order-to-cash. We know these transformations have directly affected valued employees, and the decision to move forward with them was not made lightly. They are essential to delivering the consistency and performance our customers and team members deserve. We recognize the personal impact of these transitions and remain committed to supporting all employees through this period. If you have further questions or would like to discuss your concerns in more detail, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, HR, or another leader. Thank you again for your honest feedback. - Gregg Spratto, Chief Operating Officer

Pros

Minneapolis local employees and leadership are excellent.

Cons

Executive leadership is tanking the company. Lots of layoffs, poor pay, no room for advancement, transitioning jobs overseas.

Thank you for your feedback and appreciate you recognizing our outstanding Minneapolis team. We completely agree – the talent and dedication of our employees is impressive. I feel fortunate to be part of such an exceptional group of people. The past year at Sovos has been one of great change mainly driven by our desire to improve performance across every area of the organization in the face of our ambitious new vision: to transform compliance into a force for growth. The changes we’ve brought forth have been overwhelmingly positive for our customers, we are a stronger global competitor in the market, and we’ve seen most financial metrics reflect that. However, we realize change is never easy for employees and sometimes they feel the burden of those changes most. But let me be very clear in saying there is no measure that would substantiate your belief we are tanking the company. We also realize we are in challenging economic times where rising costs have made it increasingly difficult for employees to afford every day life. The same is true for Sovos. The rising wages and demands for higher pay have forced us to look at alternative staffing measures to ensure we can continue to bring in the right level of talent in a fiscally responsible manner. We have been shifting jobs outside of the US for many years, partly due to the fact roughly a third of our business is outside of the US. But we’ve also made that movement to keep our internal costs in line in an economy where many companies are just passing along all increased costs to customers. Thank you again for your feedback and we wish you all the best as you to continue your career journey elsewhere. - Gregg Spratto, Chief Operating Officer

Tax technology space is pretty solid. Products are basic so easy to sell.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We take all feedback seriously, especially when it concerns our work culture and values. The issues you've raised are particularly concerning, as they do not align with the environment we are committed to creating. While we understand that this has been your experience, it does not reflect the typical experience we aim to provide for our employees. We place a high priority on diversity and respect, and we are committed to ensuring these values are upheld throughout the organization. Importantly, we can see that our employees feel that. In our most recent engagement survey, which was released earlier this month, the areas our employees were most enthusiastic and positive about were related to inclusion. A vast majority of our organization agrees that they not only feel respected but also can be their authentic selves at Sovos. That feedback is something we are very proud to have earned. We regret that this has not been your experience. If you would like to discuss your concerns in greater detail, please feel free to reach out. We are here to listen and address any issues.
